I want another chance with you. I had been thinking about something completely unrelated, then suddenly there you were in my head. The thought lasted maybe a minute, but it stuck with me longer than I expected. If we ever try again, I want it slower, more honest, and actually different. You don’t have to answer.

I never told you how much one small thing you did meant to me. I saw sushi and immediately connected it to one of our stupid old routines. I almost ignored it, then kept circling back to it anyway. I remembered that today and wanted you to know I didn’t forget. That’s really all. I didn’t know what to do with that for a minute.

I heard something good happened for you. I didn’t expect my reaction to be that immediate. It was such a small thing that I felt ridiculous for noticing it. Congratulations. I mean that with no weird history attached. That’s really all. It was weirdly familiar for a second. You don’t have to answer this. The timing made it feel even stranger.

Honestly, I dreamed about you last night. I found an old birthday card right before that, which probably didn’t help. I saw fries and immediately connected it to one of our stupid old routines. Apparently my brain misses the ordinary parts more than the dramatic ones. No pressure to respond. It stayed in my head longer than I expected.

Happy birthday. I didn’t expect to say that today. The thought lasted maybe a minute, but it stuck with me longer than I expected. I wasn’t sure whether texting would feel nice or annoying, so I’m keeping this simple. No hidden meaning. I just genuinely hope this next year is good to you. It was weirdly familiar for a second.

Seeing you move on made something click for me. I didn’t expect my reaction to be that immediate. It hit me during lunch, which somehow made the whole thought feel more random. Now I can see both things can be true: we mattered, and we still ended. You don’t have to answer. It was weirdly familiar for a second.

I have one question I never really got answered. I’m keeping this simple. Were you already emotionally done before you finally ended it? I was at the ice cream shop when it crossed my mind, and the timing felt weirdly specific. I’m not asking to argue. I’d rather hear something painful once than keep guessing.

I need us to stop checking on each other for a while. I don’t think either of us is trying to hurt the other, but this pattern keeps doing it anyway. I can’t tell whether these conversations are helping us heal or just keeping us attached. I care about you, but I need a boundary more than I need another conversation.

I almost used the “wrong number” excuse to text you. I’m keeping this simple. It hit me while I was out, which somehow made the whole thought feel more random. The thought lasted maybe a minute, but it stuck with me longer than I expected. So here I am being direct instead, which is somehow more embarrassing.

I’m sorry for how I handled things. I kept shutting down and then blamed you for being frustrated with me. I said things during our fights that I knew would hurt you, and being hurt myself doesn’t excuse that. I wish I had understood this while it still could’ve changed something. I’m trying not to overthink it.
